I’ve never really been one for New Year’s resolutions. When I was younger I’d listen to what other people’s resolutions were, then shape them to fit something that I thought I was interested in, such as ‘go for a run every day’, ‘eat healthier food’, or ‘stretch every night before bed’ – but I’ve never understood, if people really wanted to make a change to the way they live their life, why they wouldn’t take action the minute they thought of doing ‘life’ differently.
Last year I chose to ignore the resolutions chatter. I chose to enter the New Year with no expectations of changing my entire life, just because the world clock had ticked over another 365 days. I did however, decide to continue to live my life the way I always had in that, if there was something I wanted to do, I would do it – because I didn’t want to get to the end of another year feeling as though I had nothing to show for it. Looking back at my year now, I realise that I did just that without even noticing it at the time – and by doing so, I feel I have achieved more this past year than ANY other year I have ever had! I have completely changed my mindset, from one of self-loathing, negative self-talk, and shame – to one of health, happiness, and energy! I started my own personal blog, which lead to me creating a YouTube channel, and then further developed into an Instagram account dedicated to sharing nourishing meal ideas, which furthermore lead to THIS exact blog you are now reading. I finished my first uni degree, and achieved the results I wanted. I have the trip of a lifetime lined up for the next winter break. I am the strongest, and fittest I have ever been in my life. AND I am about to start a brand-new adventure in the coming weeks, which will allow me to enter the workforce (in 4 years’ time) as someone who is able to help others with much more than just learning what foods they should and shouldn’t eat. I haven’t restricted myself in any way, shape or form. I have tried EVERYTHING, regardless of what people might think of me (YouTube can be a very judgmental platform), and I have allowed myself to be driven by those things that make me happiest, rather than the expectations of other’s, or a petty New Year resolution which is forgotten by the end of February. Allow yourself to be driven by exactly what it is in life that you want, rather than simply a meaningless resolution that you mutter under your breath at the stroke of midnight. If you don’t have a resolution, don’t stress! It could be the best thing you ever don’t have! Be happy living in the moment for what it is, and allow life to take you on its course of never ending twists and turns. Don’t plan to ‘go on a diet’, or ‘exercise every day’ – just allow your body to find its natural rhythm that will encourage sustainable change, without the pressure of actually seeking the change. I hope that you aren’t completely confused by what I have written (I do understand if you are and I am sorry for that), but hopefully there is some sense that you will be able to take out of it. It’s another year tomorrow, enter it relaxed and ready for the coming 365-day ride to begin! I wish you the happiest, and safest of New Years – and will see you again in 2018! Woohoo! Much love, S xo

Well it’s not every day that you get chased by a duck… honestly, I had to run… from a duck… what?!
After a long drive down to Canberra to meet up with the fam for Christmas, and to celebrate my grandad’s birthday, I decided a walk was in order after lunch…the ducks decided I should move my lazy ass a bit faster, so chased my halfway around the path! Who knew they had such good stamina!! Christmas Eve marks the 12th Day of my ‘12 Recipes of Christmas’, and for this very special day, I am sharing with you yet another chocolate recipe (because you literally cannot go wrong with chocolate)! Topping this fiesta of cacao, chocolatey goodness is a bundle of tasty ingredients which are both nutritious and perfect for adding a touch of Christmas colour to any dessert table. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas, and of course, happy eating! I hope Santa treats you well and you all spend the day with those you love! Much love, S xo Recipe
I cannot believe how fast Christmas is coming at us! Like...it's Chrissy Eve tomorrow! How has the year nearly ended already? Either way, this time of year is honestly my favourite because of the underlying buzz of energy that everyone has, and the never ending events which means...NEVER. ENDING FOOOOOOODDDDDD! Yessssss!
Last night was the night my friends and I got together and honest our own little Christmas party, of which we all brought food too, and todays "recipe" was my own addition to the table. A MASSIVE fresh fruit platter that pretty much took up all the space, but it was so amazing! I love having a selection of fresh fruits to nibble at while socialising because I often find that most of the food has dairy, or there is a large offering of meat dishes which I generally do not consume either. So! To keep things nice and simple (because I hate being that one person that others have to cater for) I cater for myself with something I know everyone (including me) will enjoy! Fresh fruit is also an awesome option for occasions where you know that people will be eating lots of sugary, processed foods such as cakes and pastries - so having a healthy and fresh option at the ready is always one of my top tips for reducing sugar cravings, and preventing you from missing out on EATING! I hope you are all having a wonderful festive season and I hope that you have been enjoying my recipes so far! tomorrow I will be posting my final recipe for my 12 Recipes of Christmas, so stay tuned because it is one that will BLOW YOUR SOCKS OFFFFF! Much love, S xo Directions
The only thing I love more than food is when I get to make and create delicious treats to share with people! Today is no exception, as I am shortly heading off to a Christmas party with some of my closest friends, and I am in charge of the fruit and salad...TRUST! This morning however, mum asked me to make her friend's something small that she could take to her Christmas luncheon - so I whipped up a quick recipe that I have been dying to try from my new 'Healthy Life Cookbook', and it rapidly became my Day 10 Recipe for my '12 Recipes of Christmas'! Please enjoy my Choc Berry 'Chris' Balls (hehe get it...'Chris'...not Bliss). Wow I need a life haha!
As always, please let me know your thoughts if you try one of my recipes, and please feel free to tag me in your creations on your socials! (@feeding_energy) Much love, and happy eating! S xo Recipe
Well what an eventful Day 9 of my '12 Recipes of Christmas' has been! I woke up to find my tyre COMPLETELY flat (who invented nails anyway...pft)! Following that I missed the bus that I was planning on getting, only just made the train I had to catch, sat next to a lady who insisted she read the book I was reading (over my shoulder and not discretely whatsoever), got lost and nearly killed my phone using google maps in the rain, BUT I think I may have just found a place to live when I move for uni next year!! YAY!!! So many MASSIVE changes are about to happen in my life and I am honestly the happiest little health foodie freak there is right now!
Now, onto the real stuff...CHOCOLATE! Today I was inspired by not so much Christmas itself, but rather the 'rush' of it all. Finding recipes which are super easy and quick to whip up at this time is IDEAL for so many people as Christmas is generally accompanied by swarms of family, friends, events, big nights, and it all seems to be a never ending cycle! So a recipe which is really fun to make and easy to produce is exactly what I am giving you today. My 'Date' Me Peanut Butter Cups (pun intended) are so yummy that even the littlies of the fam will love them! Happy eating! Much love, S xo Recipe
A big good morning to you all! Welcome to one of my favourite days of the week - hump-day! I love Wednesday because it marks the middle of the week, and reminds me that the weekend is only a couple of short days away!
Day 8 of my '12 Recipes of Christmas' is turning out to be yet another scorcher! If 30 degrees by 8am doesn't scream summer, then I have no idea what does! And learning from my mistakes yesterday (read my 'Traditional Gingerbread Men' blog if you don't know what I'm talking about), I decided to begin my day with a refreshing Brekkie Bowl, themed around my favourite Christmas fruit...CHERRIES!!! And while the contents of my bowl melted faster than I could take a good picture of it to show you all, it was so refreshing, and added a LOAD of micronutrients to start my day right! Please enjoy my recipe, and let me know your thoughts by commenting, emailing me, or DM me on Insta (@feeding_energy)! Much love, S xo Recipe
Ok so there’s one big thing that I have learnt today…read the weather forecast before turning on your oven to 180C, and only being able to open doors to 30-degree weather in the hope of cooling down! Not so much blood and tears, but definitely a whole lot of sweat went into making these bad boys today! I do have to say though, my little Gingerbread Men turned out absolutely perfectly – so therefore I think nearly giving myself heatstroke was definitely worth it :D
While I am loving being creative with my ’12 Recipes of Christmas’, I am never able to pass up a tradition – and today, that tradition was making Gingerbread Men. Never fear, these little guys did not escape my creative flare, as I made up the recipe as I went along – and even if I do say so myself…they’re pretty damn good! If you try out, or even just like this recipe then please let me know by commenting, emailing me (via the ‘Contact’ tab), or messaging me on Insta (@feeding_energy). Much love, S xo Recipe
It isn’t Christmas unless the scent of ginger spice is wafting through the air, and the sounds of Michael Buble’s Christmas album are playing on repeat. (Sigh), I love Christmas…
We are officially one week out from the big day – YAY! For me, this week is absolutely jam-packed with events and chores from Christmas parties, to last minute prezzie shopping, grocery hauls, and (most importantly) cooking! The silly season really is in full swing, and so is my ’12 Recipes of Christmas’. So to recap, in the first 5 days of Christmas, I have brought you an array of smoothies, deconstructed lattes, mexi-bowls, pancakes, and a stunning beetroot hummus (of which I have nearly finished…and I only made it yesterday). But today takes things to a WHOLE NEW LEVEL. Today’s recipe does not just taste like Christmas, but will let every single person, from those you live with, to your neighbors, and even the postman – know, that you do Christmas RIGHT! Because accompanying this recipe, I can guarantee a delectable smell of mix of spices, roasted hazelnuts, and toasting oats – that will consume your house right through to Christmas dinner. Forget the candles! JUST MAKE GRANOLA! I hope you enjoy making and eating the recipe as much as I did! Also, just a hint…you need a big airtight container to store the finished mix in, so a jar with a rubber seal is definitively recommended – plus it looks pretty hehe! If you choose to try out my recipe then let me know by commenting, emailing me, or sending me a DM on good old Insta (@feeding_energy). Much love, S xo Recipe
It really never occurred to me why we call it “Merry” Christmas until last night when I was very ‘merry’ indeed, at a friend’s Christmas party. (Hehe woopsies!) While I might be slightly regretting some of the choices I made last night, I get rather creative when I have had a few too many – and as a result, I came up with a bunch of recipe ideas that I CANNOT WAIT to trial over the next couple of days as my ’12 Recipes of Christmas’ continues!
Now let me just say, if you’re looking to impress, this is the recipe for you. It could not be easier to make, or more healthy, tasty, and aesthetically pleasing if it tried! It will be underestimated at first, but then turn around to take its rightful position on top of the podium as one of the most mouthwatering pieces displayed at Christmas lunch. I guarantee that EVERYONE will be asking you for the recipe - so I suggest you print out a few copies before everyone’s arrival ;) Inspired mostly by the colours of Christmas, my Beetroot Hummus is the 5th edition to my 12 Recipes of Christmas. I hope you enjoy! As always, if you do decide to try a recipe of mine, please let me know! Leave a comment, email me, tag me on insta (@feeding_energy) – because I would LOVE to hear your thoughts and see your creations! Much love, S xo Recipe
